Program status, and season narrative.

Two metrics, one scale. The tier board records where a program sits going into the season. The grade board records how the last season went against its projection. Both live on the same 0–100 scale, so they can be compared, subtracted, and argued about.

Two metrics, not one

Polls conflate program status and season results. A 9-3 Alabama year reads one way against a projected Elite tier and another way against a projected Contender. The Program Trajectory Rating separates the two:

• Tier — program status. Five bands (Elite, Contender, Solid, Building, Rebuilding) on absolute cutoffs, not a curve.
• Grade — season narrative, banded A through F on the residual: Δ (delta), realized minus projection.

• A 2026 preseason tier and projection for every FBS program.
• A 2025 season grade for every FBS program — projection, realized, Δ, letter.
• A live 2026 grade, updating weekly in-season — current SP+ measured against the frozen August projection, the same composite number that set each team's tier.
• Three boards: Tier (program status), Grade (season narrative), and Conference Power (leagues ranked by median program).

Not a betting tool

No spreads. No totals. No moneylines. The site records seasons against projections. For point spreads and win probabilities, use SP+, FPI, or a sportsbook.

Data source

Public data from CollegeFootballData: SP+ ratings, recruiting composites, returning production, and coaching. The Program Trajectory Rating layered on top is documented in full on the methodology page.
